Three Wishes

It was her birthday. “Make three wishes,” the eager parents said. She knew the answer. “I wish for new books. I wish for a strawberry cake,” she said. “And the last wish?” Her mother asked, expecting her to ask for a pink dress. But she wanted something that they couldn’t give her. “I wish my grandmother was here today,” she requested.
